    Scaffolding: Towards Independent Students

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The concept of scaffolding comes from the building
construction trade. A scaffold is a temporarily erected
structure used to support a building that is under
construction. The scaffolding is gradually removed bit by
bit as the building itself emerges and grows stronger and
    more stable
    In learning, students are constructing
    the ability to carry
    out complex processes, such as
    talking, reading, writing,
    and thinking. Scaffolds are temporary
supports, provided by more capable people
    like the teacher,
    that permit learners to
    participate in the complex process
before they are able to do so without help.
    I mean
The students can do some tasks,
    for example, writing
a paragraph under the help of their teacher
He teaches them first how to write,
    gives them some instructions,
    gives them some examples
    Then he asks the students
with their classmates to do what
    he and them did
    To be more specific
The teacher with his students write
    a paragraph
    (the teacher helps them)
Then he asks them to do this in groups
    (His classmates will help him)
Then, the student can do it by himself
    ( alone)
What the student did with the help
of more capable people like his teacher
    or his classmates,
he can do it later alone
